About Our Founder
Ed Goins, Jr. is the CEO, President, and Chief Instructor at Recoil, Inc. He founded the company in 2010 primarily as a way to educate the African-American community about the many facets of security and self-defense. This includes, personal safety, self-defense, firearms, tactical training, security consulting, martial arts, and crime prevention. In 2015, due to the increase in violent incidents at houses of worship across the U. S., we added security and self-defense training specifically for houses of worship to our catalog.
Ed is a Glock™ certified firearms instructor, armorer, and advanced armorer. He is a retired police Sergeant having served in a variety of assignments for his department during his 27-year tenure such as: Patrol Officer, Bike patrol officer, Motorcycle patrol officer, Field Training Officer, Basic and In-service Training Supervisor, Firearms Training Supervisor, Mayoral Security Detail supervisor, Public Integrity Unit investigator, and Dignitary Protection Team (DPT) Supervisor.
